Metallising

Metallisation - is a coating technique in which we apply a layer of zinc to metal. Metallisation provides an extra layer of protection with a plain appearance.

What is the advantage of metallisation?

Metallisation has numerous advantages as a protection technique compared to electroplating: You get a very tight and even layer, while avoiding any risk of deformation due to heating. Moreover, you create the perfect surface for receiving the powder coating.

How do we metallise your construction project

In metallising, we heat zinc wire or zinc powder to a liquid substance. We then spray liquid zinc onto a bare blasted metal surface with a spray gun. Compressed air is used to blow the zinc onto the metal surface in several layers. The material solidifies immediately, creating an adhesive protective layer. Thanks to the spray technique, we can also treat large objects - which do not fit in the zinc bath.

Optionally, you can choose to apply a primer or colour coating to the light grey raw surface.

Metallisation vs. galvanisation

There is often still some confusion of speech surrounding the terms metallisation and galvanisation. Galvanisation or 'hot-dip galvanising of steel' or 'hot-dip galvanising of steel' refers to the application of a metal (zinc) by immersing your steel project in a hot zinc bath. In metallising steel, we apply a zinc layer by evaporation.

In galvanisation, we are limited by the size of the zinc bath, which is why we always opt for metallisation for large-scale projects.
