Galvanising

By galvanising steel, you create an additional protective layer (corrosion-resistant layer). This way, you easily increase the lifespan of your steel project. Moreover, it also gives the metal an even, silvery sheen.

How is steel galvanised?

The steel structure is dipped into a zinc-filled bath that is kept hot at a constant temperature of +/- 450°C. This ensures that the zinc layer adheres well to the steel structure. This surface treatment gives the steel a corrosion-resistant layer that significantly prolongs its service life.

All steel structures are hot-dip galvanised by a certified partner.

Galvanising vs. metallising

Galvanising and metallising are still often confused with each other. Logical, because with both coating techniques, you apply a zinc layer to protect your steel project from rust (corrosion).

So where is the difference? Well, in galvanisation (or 'hot dip galvanisation'), you immerse steel in a hot zinc bath. This has the advantage that you can process steel products very quickly, but you are limited to the size of the bath. In metallisation, the zinc layer is applied by spraying it manually.
